Water is fundamental to environmental sustainability, human health, economic prosperity, and ecosystem resilience.
Recognising its critical importance, the University has made significant investments in interdisciplinary water research that supports progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 14: Life Below Water.
These goals are key to Exeter’s sustainability and climate strategy, reflecting the vital role that water plays in addressing climate change, protecting biodiversity, and supporting resilient communities.
Research
Water research at Exeter spans 25 departments with a diverse range of disciplines involving more than 400 researchers. This breadth of expertise enables the collaborative approach taken by CREWW tackling complex issues from multiple perspectives.
